Sissy Spacek
Sissy Spacek
Formed in 1999, Sissy Spacek began as a grindcore band submerged in the experimental territory of extreme music. Nearly 20 years on the outfit is maintained by core members John Wiese (bass, electronics, vocals) and Charlie Mumma (drums, vocals). To those familiar with their previous works on Dais, PPM, Chondritic Sound, Gilgongo or Wiese’s own Helicopter imprint, their hybrid of grind blur and avant-garde sensibility is instantly recognizable within the band’s terse writing. Along with extensive tours of the United States, the band has made appearances at No Fun Fest (NYC), LUFF (Switzerland), LA’s The Smell, NY’s Issue Project Room, London's Cafe OTO, Hong Kong's Empty Gallery, and countless others.

For their performance at Zebulon, Mumma and Wiese will be joined by long time collaborator Mitchell Brown and Don Bolles for a special set of concrète electronics. v=q0IQF0WJ78s

Gasp caused heavy head trips in multiple DIY scenes in their hometown of Los Angeles and abroad from 1994-1999. Releases included splits with Deerhoof, Noothgrush, Volume Eleven and Suffering Luna and a sole full-length on Slap-a-Ham. Gasp performed with Crash Worship, Melt-Banana, Deerhoof, Assück & Isis, among others. Gasp haven't been active in 18 years but for whatever crazy reason here they are again.
