Wolf Eyes
Wolf Eyes
At this Thursday Night PsyJazz salon, Wolf Eyes turns the house of mirrors on themselves to present WOLF HOME COMPANION – their live set recast as an inzane variety hour of self-questioning and answering, offering anecdotal evidence of metals tripped. The band arrives for PSYCHO JAZZ IN L.A. appearing for the first time on the west coast as four-piece with member MV Carbon contributing cello and electronics to their psychic lurch. In an era of harsh vibes and confusion, this epic art rock unit finds connection in the chaos.

Wolf Eyes (Detroit, MI - Lower Floor Music)

Wolf Eyes have decrypted lower floors of consciousness, transmuting the shadow world into a dank audio cosmos. Still-primal, their existential tension always finds new escape hatches via basement tactics loose and free. On Halloween, the band arrives in town for PSYCHO JAZZ IN L.A. appearing for the first time on the west coast as four-piece with member MV Carbon contributing cello and electronics to their psychic lurch. In an era of harsh vibes and confusion, this epic art rock unit finds connection in the chaos.
Joe & Joe
A current project from core Los Angeles Free Music Society players Joe Potts and Joseph Hammer. With a full-on, turn-everything-on aesthetic and an array of chopped electronics, Potts sculpts with saturation, charting threshold topographies that approach totality. In the field of found sound, Hammer is the master of survey and delay, coaxing fragments of occluded origin into an endless material – tape looped, reel-to-reel.
Eloe Omoe
Bass and drums power duo Eloe Omoe unleash a unified flow of instant composition and perpetual collapse. In their core collaboration, Sam and Tim have stayed full-on and free through many a high and heavy scene, leaving a wake of vibrated viscera and splattered skins.
Martín Escalante
Born in L.A. and raised in Mexico, the mild mannered Martín Escalante is a wild sax ripper who destroys on every level. Blowing bursts of pure fire through a tenor mouthpiece into a neckless alto, this dude crams in so many blips and slips per minute, your mind is still processing what was while witnessing the howl now.
Wood & Metal
There's no quicker way to make noise than to hit something. Wood & Metal is the waste-laying percussion duo of Ted Byrnes and Charlie Mumma, who – as drummers – are known for a thousand points of punctuation amidst a flurry of perpetual motion and the grindcore patter of Sissy Spacek, respectively. What began as a two kit excursion has now collapsed to the floor for something more primal; an array of detritus awaiting certain battery.
Phill Musra
Amongst the din that came from the 1970s Boston underground were the Free Jazz emanations of twin brother wind players Phill Musra and Michael Cosmic. Small batch releases on their Cosmic Records imprint have recently (and thankfully) received the full-on reissue treatment from Now Again Records. Phill lives in Los Angeles, and plays to this day with soul, fire, and a feel for street level dynamics.
Ace Farren Ford
Ace Farren Ford is an original experimentalist of high weirdness, a key player in Smegma’s initial Los Angeles run in the mid -70s – and now again for the last ten years of that unit’s sonic sprawl. A leader and player in Los Angeles Free Music Society ensembles, he’s a comfortably unlearned and intuitive abuser of saxophones, flutes, and world winds.
